The John Bryan Jump Off-
The inaugural race to start the Central Ohio Adventure Racing season. This short sprint is designed for the beginner in mind lasting only 3-4 hours. John Bryan State Park is perfect for the first time racer. The Park offers Mountain Biking trails, River Paddling on the Little Miami, Orienteering and an introduction to Rappelling. This race is also a great spring warm up for the more experienced racers out there.Date- May 17, 2008. Race Fee- $35.00 per person. Canoe/Kayak Rental Fee- $25.00
The Attack At Alum Creek- Central Ohio Adventure Racing lives up to It's name and Attacks the shores of Alum creek in southern Delaware county. This 4 hour Adventure Race includes a lengthy Paddle, Orienteering, and Mountain Biking on Single track, Double track and Roads. The race will also include a surprise event at the end, so be prepared to get wet (hint).
Date- June 14, 2008. Race Fee- $40.00 per person.
The Games at Caesar Creek- Central Ohio Adventure Racing has accepted Emperor Caesar’s challenge. Racers will compete for 6 hours in several events. The culmination of the Games will end with the crowning of the victors and the fanfare afterwards.
Date- July 19, 2008. Race Fee- $45.00 per person. Canoe/Kayak Rental Fee- $25.00
Showdown At Saltfork-
Date- Aug 16, 20008. Race Fee- $55.00 per person.
Pain, Punishment and Paint Creek-
The last regular race in the series is a 8 hour pain fest at Paint Creek State Park. We hope everyone won't be disappointed by the final installment where racers Paddle, Mountain Bike and Orienteer on the Appalachian plateau. As with some of our other racers there will be a surprise event mid race (no hint this time).Date- Sept 13, 2008. Race Fee- $55.00 per person. Canoe/Kayak Rental Fee- $25.00
GEARLIST- While this list is not all inclusive to all races we suggest the following items. Hydration system (Camelbak or Nalgene), Compass, Map Case (a ziplock bag is OK), Mountain Bike (In good repair), Helmet, Extra Tube or Patch Kit, Chain Tool, and Pump (CO2 OK). During night races the addition of a Headlamp and Headlights and a Taillight on the Mountain Bike. During inclement whether racers are recommended to have waterproof jackets (Gore-tex, Supplex). During paddle sections that racers bring there own watercraft they will need at least a PFD and Paddle per racer. During races that include roped events Gloves, a Carabiner, Helmet (bike helmet is OK) and Harness are required.
*All Races start at 10:00 a.m. except Mohican Madness and Paint Creek which start at 9:00 a.m. Race briefings are 1/2 hour before race start time. Prices include registration, race bib, and after race meal with refreshments. May also include race sponsored prizes.
